  • Runs around Inverleith park,
  • Open water duathlons
  • Pool timed events (occasional, usually winter)

  • Hilly TT. It starts from the bottom of Carbury Hill outside Inveresk and goes through Elphinstone and Ormiston before coming back round to the start.

"A total of 16 riders on the day, 12 in the evening, 3 of which were ERC as it coincided with their own test of the 4 laps so they played along. Some results were assisted by a bit of practice for future draft legal racing :) Conditions were perfect. "Lots of factors can affect our performance, so you could do the same TT in the same pool and get a very different result. Some days we are tired, stressed, hungry, etc. or not in the right mind set for a TT. Other people in the lane affect us, can we overtake? if so, am I confident enough to get passed two people, will they then overtake me? Is it worth it? All these thoughts and feelings affect performance and that's even before we've got into technique and what my body's doing. Relax, the first 100 or so should all be about rhythm and form. Get that right then start to think about tactics - speed, overtaking. Respect your body, treat it well and it will reward you" (Sharon)

Congratulations to those ET’s who turned out for the Iain Gowans duathlon on Saturday. The times were taken at start and finish of the run so transition times are included in the cycle time (the order is the order of taking down the first run time).  Conditions on the run were particularly tricky as the path does not get much direct sun so was very icy.
Particular mention of Eilidh who won the women’s race with the fastest overall time and the two fastest run splits. As well as beating all of the men she also beat the ice to obliterate the women’s record. Well done to Nicol who was consistent in posting the second fastest times on each of the three stages to win the men’s prize.
Special mention also to recently joined member Iain Sinclair who posted the fastest bike split. More importantly it was a great effort from all on a cold morning. Thanks also to Laura, Anna and Paul L who helped with the marshalling.

26 Nov Inverleith runs

Karl: "Good turnout last night for the first of the New Format run time trials.
The distances were 1.5km for the slower group and 3km for the faster group. I was initially going to call them half Pi and Pi but the long one doesn’t quite come to 3.1415926

It was a mass start for both groups, heading in alternate directions. Going forward we’ll do these as handicap starts.

Well done everyone and we'll have a rerun in about 6 weeks".

"Well done to all at Threipmuir on 28th July. It was good to see such a good turnout:  both racers and swimmers. Well done especially to Mike Brown who ran the second quickest run split of the night to come in first in our handicap race.
